1-15-07 - Grêmio Signs Argentine Keeper Saja

After two failed attempts, Grêmio finally was able to sign a new goalkeeper. The 27-year-old Argentine Sebastian Saja will arrive in Porto Alegre on Wednesday on a one-year lease from San Lorenzo, of Almagro. Saja will bring international competition experience to the Tricolor goal. He won the Mercosul Cup in 2001 and the South American Cup in 2002 with his former club.

Ironically, it was a broken deal that landed Saja in Porto Alegre. Originally, he was to transfer to Lanús to replace Bossio, who was released so he could to contest the Libertadores Cup with Grêmio. At the last minute, the Lanús pulled out of the deal, allowing Grêmio and San Lorenzo to then negotiated directly.
